History

Perivolas came into existence as a result of a brave decision by the owners to take some caves which, around 300 years previously, had been home to fishermen and farmers on Santorini and transform them into a deluxe hotel. Within the boundaries of a lushly planted garden, dominated by crimson bougainvillaea, 17 traditional residential units were built with a harmonious combination of natural materials and modern style.

Suites & Studios

This traditional complex contains studios, junior and superior suites and the renowned Perivolas Suite, built to impress you. Each of the air-conditioned studios and suites has a sitting room, a fully-equipped kitchen and, of course, a balcony with a view of the famous Caldera.The hotel offers discreet lighting, domed ceilings, spacious rooms and arched windows through which the view is amazing. At the hotel you will find antiques from Santorini and selected handmade articles which further accentuate the stylishness of the premises.

The Perivolas Suite

The Perivolas Suite was built in July 2004 – the realisation of a dream to construct a private refuge on what is perhaps the most beautiful of the Cycladic islands. The design, which has a minimalist feel though not a hint of luxury has been sacrificed, makes use of shadows to create atmosphere. Blue light is reflected on the white ceiling of the bedroom, while the olive tree growing in the sitting room gets the sunlight it needs through a small opening in the roof. At 120 square metres, you really can escape into a dream world: Each of the separate areas within the suite radiates out from the central sitting room, while each area communicates with the others. The suite includes a bedroom, a private swimming pool and a spa with a steam bath and a hydrotherapy massage pool.

Services for Guests

During your stay at the hotel you will have access to newspapers from all over the world, the Internet and also the hotel’s own library. Staff at the hotel will be happy to help you choose from the many additional activities and services available. These range from excursions and sailing trips to scuba diving and private aircraft rental services. The hotel also offers a gymnasium, steam bath, sauna and outdoor hydromassage pool. Perivolas “spoils” its guests by serving breakfast at the pool, in the café or on the private balcony of each room. Breakfast includes freshly baked bread, apple pie, biscuits, Greek yoghurt, various types of home-made jam, seasonal fruit and fruit juice. The restaurant is open from noon until late, serving various tasty salads and light Mediterranean meals. At dusk the swimming pool is the perfect place to sit and enjoy the famous sunset over Oia. Later, sit and have a drink at the pool bar. The hotel’s well-stocked wine-cellar includes many types of locally produced wine.
